These signs might include information to help with social distancing for your staff and customers including the requirement for customers to wear masks inside your store. They are waterproof and UV safe and can last for years. We also offer a special window wrap service with floor to ceiling window graphics that can be used as advertising at your store.

We print window clings with vibrant colors in high resolution and sizes up to 48″x159″ wide. Window decals (also known as window stickers or window graphics) are images, graphics, or letters printed on or cut out of self-adhesive vinyl and applied to any type of window or glass surface. Vinyl lettering, transparent window decals, opaque window decals, perforated window decals, and frosted window decals are all examples of window decals. Each decal is weather-resistant and engineered to endure rain, sunlight, and other elements.

What are Window Clings

Window clings are graphics or stickers, specifically made for use on windows, storefronts, glass doors, mirrors, and any other smooth glass surface, whether indoors or outside. Store hours, business names, logos, items, sales, advertisements, and contact information are commonly displayed on window clings by businesses, offices, restaurants, and other stores. They can also be used to display your favorite logo, team, or band, among other things.

What’s the difference between a Window Cling and Window Sticker?

Window clings are big signs made of plastic film that use static electricity to adhere to windows. Clings are most typically used in front windows, although they can also be used to hang from plastic or metal surfaces. Clings are usually good for six months of use.

Decals are huge graphic decals that can endure a long time on your windows. They are vinyl-based and can adhere to metal, wood, plastic, or glass. Are you looking for something bigger that will wrap your entire window? Try our incredible window wrapping service in NYC.

How to Install & Care For Your Window Clings

Most of our window decals are simple to apply and can be done in a matter of minutes by yourself. Start by cleaning the surface area you want to apply your window decals to with a damp cloth. Apply water or a graphic application fluid (ie, soapy water) to the window and then apply your window decals.

Using a credit card to a squeegee, gently press out all the air bubbles of your window decals by starting at the center and working the bubbles out to the edge where they will release. It should be very easy to remove the bubbles; if not, you haven’t added enough fluid to the window decals application area.

Wash your window clings using a moist, non-abrasive rag on a regular basis. This will assist maintain the decal’s quality and longevity by removing dirt and grime. Power washers should not be used on windows when a window decal has been applied. These decals can endure several years if properly cared for. Window

Window Cling FAQs

How do window clings work?

What are static window clings and how do they work? The surface and the vinyl cling do not have opposing electrical charges with static clings. When pushed on a surface, the vinyl attaches via suction. It’s as if the cling was stuck to the substrate with hundreds of tiny suction cups.

Do I need window adhesives for my store?

If the installation is to be semi-permanent, adhesive vinyl is the best option because it lasts longer and is less likely to separate. A cling is the way to go if it’s a temporary installation or you plan to repeat the design, though wear and tear will eventually limit usage. Indoors, static clings work better. Because the graphic will be harmed by heat, humidity, and weather. If you have no other choice than to put it outside, apply adhesive.

Who is going to see my window clings?

Do you want people to be able to see the design from the inside or outside? Both can be installed on the inside of a building. Is it necessary to make it transparent? Static clings aren’t just for glass; they may be used on a variety of non-porous smooth surfaces, including metals and plastics. If you’re doing an interior retail display, putting the image on a display case or end cap might get you more impressions than putting it on a window.

Why do my clings stop sticking?

The static cling will lose its power to adhere over time as its suction qualities deteriorate.

How do I prevent bubbles when applying my window decals?

Our wet application installation process has been utilized in the signs industry for decades and is a tried and true way for installing films and window graphics. It’s effective! The process is quite forgiving, allowing you to reposition the film before it dries and remove difficult bubbles.

Can I see out my windows but block people seeing in?

We’re frequently asked about window advertising with a mirror coating that allows you to gaze out but preventing others from seeing in. Mirror film is a reflective window coating that is often used in commercial buildings. It only functions as intended during the daytime hours, because the light level inside must be lower than outside. As a result, it acts in reverse at night.

Alternatives include:
Use a frosted film, but don’t cover the entire window; instead, place it slightly above eye level to keep passers-by from peering into your room. You can still enjoy your view by leaving an area clear.

Use one of our patterned films, which contain transparent patterns within the frost that allow you to see partially through the film while obstructing your view from the outside.

Simply said, a frosted window film can be applied directly to the glass. If you like something a little more trendy, we also have a variety of patterned window film that will suffice.

Will they block out the lights at night?

It all depends on the cling design. A frosted window film or patterned window film would be excellent for day and night privacy because they both make the glass opaque. A one-way mirror window film, on the other hand, would only provide privacy during the day under ideal circumstances.

What is CMYK?

In offset printing, the standard color mode used in CMYK. CMYK, or Cyan, Magenta, Yellow & Black represent the four process colours in this mode. When you are creating your files, be sure to check the color mode as programs like Photoshop by default use RBG color, not CMYK. CMYK may look more dull on a computer screen than RGB; more noticeable in large solid color areas.

Accepted File Formats

We require industry standard formats for all uploaded files. We keep quality in mind when we print every job. We accept the following file formats: TIF – JPG – PDF – EPS – PSD. We accept CorelDraw, Pagemaker & Quark or similar files by converting them to industry standard graphic formats like JPG, TIF or PDF.

Rich Black vs 100% Black

Large black areas or fonts bigger than 36 points should use Rich Black which stops areas appearing gray. Rich Black is created with 30% Cyan, 30% Magenta, 30% Yellow, 100% Black. This setup will keep black areas looking rich and bold. For best results with regular body text, do not use Rich Black.

What Paper to Choose?

Paper should be addressed first in your design work. With postcards, the best option is to choose a thicker cardstock instead of a thinner text weight. The difference between these 2 types of paper is thickness. Our text weight is based on pounds and our card stock is weighted by points. Want to feel the difference? Order a Free Sample Kit today.

What is Font Outlining?

We might not have the same fonts on our systems as your computer, so when saving your files in a vector based program (Illustrator, InDesign, Quark, CorelDraw) please outline your fonts. This will convert them to a vector image, will not effect the clarity and will allow us to see the same text as you see on your screen.

Coating Types

We have many coating options at Printing New York. Matte, UV, silk and spot UV. Choose the coating based on your application. For example, if you want to write on your cards with a pen, do not choose UV coating as a pen won’t write on it. In this case a matte or uncoated stock coating would suit. Choose UV coating for flyers or banners and our rich silk gives a touch of elegance; 16pt stock a more durable feeling.

FAQs

What resolution should my files be for printing?

When printing, 300 PPI is the best print resolution for digital printers. The design of a file with a resolution below 300 PPI will result in blurring and pixelization. On the other hand, you should not design with a resolution higher than 300 PPI. As far as the eye can see, there will be no difference in print quality. It will also make your file much larger (increase file upload/transfer time).

We always recommend 300 PPI drawings to print, but we also know that sometimes you do not have the ability to edit your drawings. If you cannot print your files with a resolution of 300 PPI, you will have to take some measures to ensure that a lower resolution works for you.

We recommend that you set the resolution in your graphics editor (i.e. Photoshop) to 300 PPI before you start drawing your file. Increasing the resolution after the start will still result in blurring/pixelation.

How are my artworks checked?

All the work is checked by our team before printing. If we have any problems with the files, we will contact you and advise you how to change the format. Please note that conversion of both color and size mode will be done automatically without prior information.

During the analysis of the illustrations, we check

– if the files are presented in one of the accepted formats (PDF, JPG, TIFF, EPS or PS).
– if the number of pages is correct
– if the file supplied is greyscale (only if you have ordered a color print)
– if the file is the right size (otherwise we will scale your work to the desired size, however, this may result in a reduction in resolution. No additional bleeding will be added to the process either).
– if the drill lines have been specified
– if the appropriate fonts have been incorporated into the file.

Why do my artwork files need bleed?

To ensure that there are no white areas on the printed product, all files submitted should have a 2mm bleed on each side. This means that your design (both images and graphics) should always be 2mm larger than the actual print format. Failure to do so may result in slight variations, resulting in white margins. To ensure that the fonts and essential elements of your drawing are visible, place them at least 3mm away from the final format (not including bleeding) and do not use edges as edges in layouts.

Optional:
– If you are submitting data for printing in an open format, the bleed should be 4mm on each side (e.g. A4 size including bleed should be 301×214mm).
– If you are submitting files for presentation folders, banners, monthly calendars, packaging or any other promotional technology products, please prepare a file with 3mm bleed on each side
– Envelopes should be supplied with a 1mm bleed.
– The textile elastic frames must be bled 15mm.

If you need more information, please consult our artwork instructions.

What file types can my artwork be?

You can upload files in the following formats:
JPG, PDF, EPS, TIFF, PS (PostScript)

Make sure that your PDF file is saved directly from your graphics program in standard PDF/X format (PDF/X3 or PDF/X1a). To avoid problems with layers and transparencies during the printing process, it is recommended to use the “1.3 compatibility” setting when saving artworks.

If you are sending TIFF files, be sure to reduce the number of layers to one.

To avoid problems with color variation or printed image, please do not use pre-separated data from DCS EPS.

Are you an eco-friendly printer?

Yes we are! We offer the widest range of eco-friendly printing products available in New York using soy ink, including recycled business cards, brochures, presentation folders, sales sheets, stationery, catalogs, flyers, calendars and more. Recycled paper is now our standard stock.

Historically, the printing industry has had a poor reputation for caring for the environment, with excessive use of water and electricity, paper waste and the use of volatile chemicals resulting in toxic waste. Protecting the environment is one of New York Print’s major concerns, and we strive to put our planet first.

And this is how Print New York is making a difference:

– Using soy-based inks
– Use of recycled paper stocks as standard
– Printing methods, such as duplex printing, that reduce paper usage
– Modern machines that significantly reduce energy consumption
– Elimination of toxic and volatile chemicals
– Alcohol-free presses
– We recycle redundant machines and computer parts.
– We recycle our printing plates, press blankets, bottles, cans and containers

I liked the stuff, however several of the items had unusual marks on them (from packing I assume). Several items had smudges on the edges or were ruined. However, the vast majority of them appeared to be in good condition! The pricing is unbeatable!

Our entire storefront windows were wrapped. They are employing a window cling style wrap instead of vinyl, which I must say appears to be a much superior method because vinyl is a headache to get off when we want to change the windows. They came to our store and did everything, including stripping the vinyl from the old window decorations. I’m quite impressed!
