Foil stamping (also known as hot stamping) is a process of dry printing, which consists in transferring metallic or pigmented foil onto a flat surface using a carved and heated metal plate. The foil, which is fitted onto the plate, in the process of heating leaves on the surface a colorful imprint mirroring the very design carved on the plate. Thereby, one obtains a desired pattern on a flat surface with relative ease in a short space of time.
