Floor graphics are the dynamic marketing application found on floors, stairs & sidewalks all over the world. A lasting impression that captures the attention of your customers as they walk over it – they literally can’t escape it. Discover more about floor graphics & how we print them right here in NYC.
Floor graphics and decorative floor panels consist of a base material and a scratch-resistant vinyl coating laminate. The base material element contains adhesive (with removable backing) on one side and a printed surface or graphics on the other side. The flooring laminate protects the graphics of the flooring with a scratch-resistant vinyl backing and also offers additional possibilities for a normal gloss or gloss velour relief. SRV laminate or scratch resistant vinyl is available in different thicknesses for your special flooring needs: 4 mil, 6 mil and 7 mil.
Floor graphics serve many purposes, such as managing customer traffic, attracting customer attention, as well as for in-store advertising or promotions. There are infinite possibilities to use floor graphics, for example in retail shops, museums, sports arenas, exhibitions, cinemas, etc. Basketball floor graphics can become very large and should be installed by a team specialised in the installation of floor graphics.
Today, floor graphics are used in cases that work together with actors in real time. Imagine floor graphics that are made to look 3D, either using the graphics themselves or using the lenticular printing. Then the real “actors” are placed as if they were an extension of the graphics, or passers-by should feel as if they were stepping on the other side. Inspiration for 3d printing floor decorations can be found in many applications along sidewalks and on the streets.
Why you should choose floor graphics
Can you imagine how much more space could be used for branding purposes if you could turn the space currently available – with several unique custom graphics – into a way of showing your logo, products and services? NYC floor signs and graphics can change the whole look of an office, retail store and showroom or conference room.
At Printing New York we have created graphics on every imaginable surface, from billboards and brick walls to windows and roofs. No wonder in a place like New York – where real estate is at such a high level – these large expansive spaces integrated into the layout of so many retail outlets, building entrances, lobbies and office spaces – are the ideal place to present your organisation to others.
The floor signage offers immediate exposure that stimulates the senses and wins the loyalty of customers, guests and employees. A floor is in fact a clean canvas which, if properly designed, can become an attractive advertising tool that starts telling its story to newcomers and sharing its entrepreneurial vision with others. In addition, these floor signs inform the public perfectly – whether it is your special products and services or even in the form of markers that guide you to different departments and facilities.
It is also scientifically proven (more on this later) that floor charts attract customers’ attention and influence their purchasing decisions.
Create an individual look for any office or retail space and effortlessly facilitate any marketing strategy with brilliant, industry-specific floor graphics of your choice of colors, fonts and images. Because vinyl signs are relatively cheap and durable, there’s no better way to cover all – or even part – of the flooring and create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere with your own unique commercial identifiers than with vinyl flooring graphics.
Floor signs are easy to apply, clean and remove when ready to be changed – whether for rebranding, seasonal rotation or simply to replace with new brands. Our individual flooring signs have a permanent, seamless look that exhales a sleek, top-notch look, whether in Manhattan or Queens, the Bronx or New Jersey.
Floor Decals
The surface on which the graphic floor decals are to be applied is certainly important, but the graphic design itself is actually more so if you’re looking to capture your customer’s attention.
Floor decals & graphics consists of three layers:
Glue: This is the bottom layer of the floor decals that glues the graphic to the floor. Some glues are made to be easily removable while others are stronger and more permanent. Underlay: This is the layer on which the graphic is printed. In most cases it is vinyl. Since this layer is contained in the middle, it is protected on both sides, but the type of material and ink used to print on it will continue to affect the quality of the graphics as a whole. Protective coating: There is a protective layer on top of the printed graphics – usually non-slip lamination. Since this is the layer that people will step on, it can significantly affect the durability of lamination. This layer is also made to be a non-slip surface so that people can walk on it safely. The exterior graphic of the floor can have an even more textured surface.
Maintenance and Removal
But before you go and get your floor graphics printed, there are two other things you need to know: how to maintain and remove them. If surface preparation is simple and installing floor graphics is quite easy in most cases, then maintaining and removing graphics will be simple as well.
Most quality graphic floor systems can be cleaned. For example, the Avery floor marking system is designed to withstand daily cleaning with soft soapy water. You might be surprised to learn that your customer can also use commercial buffers with a spare. Avery recommends that you manually apply four to five coats of floor varnish to graphics before using the buffer on it.
Be sure to advise your customers not to wipe the graphics for the first 24 hours, otherwise it may cause the floor to take off. However, once the graph is processed for the first time, they can treat it as part of the floor.
If you want your customers to get optimum performance from their new bright floor graphics, tell them not to let water dwell around the image or expose the image to oils and solvents for long periods of time. They’ll also be happy to know that the scratches on the graphics can be removed with soap and water, citrus detergents and, at the very least, scratch-free cleaning of the pads.
The headlight manufacturer should create a printed checklist for customers that will tell them how to keep the schedule without errors. This will help avoid unnecessary complaints about the life or appearance of the graphics. Remember, your reputation is at stake. Helping clients understand how best to keep their floor graphics alive is in their best interest.
Removing floor graphics
In the life of every floor graphic there comes a day when it’s time to put it away. Avery film and vinyl materials offer some strategic direction: When you pull up your floor graphic, start at one corner and gently pull the material towards you at a 90 degree angle. You may need to use a dough knife to start the removal process.
The material should be removed cleanly. If there are adhesive residues on the edge of the floor, these can be removed by gently scraping with a dough knife or citrus cleaner. Dirty outline edges can also be noticed after removing the graphics, but this should be taken care of during normal floor cleaning.
